bufreads in onstat -p output

Hi guys, I am facing a problem with an application suddenly becoming slow. The interesting thing which I noticed when this application was running was that the bufreads display in onstat -p output was increasing at an alarming rate. I am setting this to zero with onstat -z command in the beginning of this process and the bufreads exceeds its max limit (2 ** 32) in 12 hours. Another thing happening at the same time is there are lot (~4 million) of lockreqs and approx. 90% of these are on systables. Any ideas / comments as to why and when this can occur are welcome.
