Re: BUFFERED LOGGING: Is it safe??

Just my 2 pence worth, but have you thought about this: If your server has a UPS, then upon a power failure your server should shutdown cleanly. (If it has been setup correctly) During this shutdown, OnLine will flush all buffered logs to the disk. Your transactions are therefore safe. If your server does not have a UPS, then the only option you have is unbuffered logging. However, if you have a disk crash you will lose the WHOLE logical log (this is also assuming that continuous logical log backup to tape is running otherwise you will lose a DAY or more!) regardless of whether you have buffered or unbuffered logging :-( --------------------------------------------- All opinions are my own Neil Stevenson nmsteven@eukcumbpo1.unitedkingdom.attgis.com Voice: +44 1236 851218 Fax: +44 1236 457459 ---------------------------------------------
