->Subject: ACE Problem-Duplicate Rows
->
->1. Am a relatively new Informix SQL On-Line (5.0) user.
->
->2. Have built a database with multiple tables.
->
->3. Having a problem with ACE Report Writer. When creating a report
->that joins multiple tables (five specifically) the select clause is
->returning (and including in the report) any single row a multitude
->of times. The number of times a row is returned appears to have
->some correlation to the number of columns meeting the "join"
->conditions in the "where" clause. It should be noted that none of
->the values in the columns being joined are unique (i.e. the column
->being joined is often duplicated WITHIN each of the tables AND
->BETWEEN the tables.
->
->4. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
->
->5. Thanks!
If you change
select a, b, c, d ....to
select distinct a, b, c, d ....
you will receive only one row returned for each unique combination of
column values. Any given COLUMN may contain duplicate values in the
output, but no identical/redundant ROWS will be repeated.
