Here's another way to deal with testing situations: I use a test database
with the same name as the real one, and use the DBPATH environment variable
to control which one I get.
E.g.
setenv DBPATH ~/testdir
during a testing session. No need to change your code, or rename the database.
You just have to be careful: I worry about forgetting which window on my
screen is accessing the test database, and which one contains the live
data :-(
