BDE message is "database not found or permission > isn't sufficient" (just paraphrasing). I'm using that exact configuration to talk to Informix versions 7.1-7.24, the only one I know of that I can't talk to is 8.11,(have to use the ODBC driver). I think the trickiest part is that you have to put the Service name in the server name field when you configure the tdatabase component, whereas in the 16 bit version you had to put in the hostname. Doublecheck that you can get to the database with ILogin,(that's an informix client utility), and if you can, then you should be able to connect via delphi. Things to check: 1. Make sure your instance name and port number are set up in the services file 2. Make sure that everything is set up correctly in Setnet32 3. Test the connection in ILogin, this verifies everything is ok on the informix side 4. Make sure that your alias is set up right, instance/service name in the server name field, and remember that these settings are case sensitive. Ok, that's about everything I can think of.
