Yes, and no. Tech Support doesn't ship product, per se. However, you should be able to call telemarketing and say, "I own 4GL, serial number XXX with maintenance, on platform YYYYY. What is the current version for my platform?" (All product is shipped out of Kansas nowadays anyway.) And, assuming that the version is newer than what you have, (and that you weren't just fibbing when you said that you had maintenance [-: ), they should just send it to you; that's my understanding. Standard shipping used to be free, too -- I have no reason to believe that it isn't still -- and you have the option of paying extra for overnight service. No media costs for UNIX products unless it's something really goofy, like maybe a Syquest, or punch cards... >I assume from this that tech support staff have the authority to send us >fixes then. (hopefully again at just media costs since I've paid for >maintenance) Is this so? You shouldn't need authorization; just verification of maintenance. (It would be a good idea to contact Support first to make sure whatever bug(s) you are facing are fixed in the currently available version, obviously.) > /|| // // ,'/""\\' John Postma john@mks.com (519)884-2251 All this is *my* understanding of policy; if I'm wrong, let me know, I'll follow up. -- Alan Denney # aland@informix.com # {pyramid|uunet}!infmx!aland CAUTION: Objects in terminal are closer than they appear...
