Dear All.... http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/idshelp/v111/index.jsp I refered to this document of IDS 11.1 , and found the following statements: Use the DS_NONPDQ_QUERY_MEM configuration parameter to increase the amount of memory that is a available for a query that is not a Parallel Database Query (PDQ). and You can use the DS_NONPDQ_QUERY_MEM configuration parameter to configure sort memory for all queries except those queries that have a PDQ priority of 0 (zero). My english is poor , but I think these 2 statements means that DS_NONPDQ_QUERY_MEM is for NONPDQ queries total amount of memory usage , also , DS_NONPDQ_QUERY_MEM is for PDQ queries sorting memory usage !! Am I correct ?!....these 2 statements confuse me , that means DS_NONPDQ_QUERY_MEM is used in both PDQ and NONPDQ in different way ?!
No. DS_NONPDQ_QUERY_MEM is only used for non PDQ queries. It essentially defines the memory for sorting for non PDQ queries. A non PDQ query will not have PDQPRIORITY set or will have it set to zero. The second statement is a documentation bug. In the 11.50xC1 Administrator's manual it states: *"You can only use this parameter if PDQ priority is set to zero."* The second quote should read: *You can use the DS_NONPDQ_QUERY_MEM configuration parameter to configure sort memory for all queries except PDQ queries.* Which is what it does say in the Performance Guide for IDS 11.50xC1 where they have corrected the documentation error.
