I'm trying to setup our Informx SE 7.24, so that we can connect it to a Crystal Reports application. I seem to be having problems with getting the server daemon up and going. Here's what I have: 1. The /etc/hosts file has the following entry: 10.8.33.1 my_hostname 2. The $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts file has the following entry: my_host_se sesoctcp my_hostname myhost_service 3. The /etc/services file has the following entry: myhost_service 1425/tcp 4. INFORMIXSERVER=myhost_se 5. PATH=$INFORMIXDIR:$PATH When I run this command: $INFORMIXDIR/lib/sqlexecd myhost_se I'm getting the following error: my_hostname# 2004-01-13 11:24:57.248312 daemon err = 25507: The specified service name or protocol is unknown. Its on Sun Solaris, I did trt selitcp and it gave and system error 22 with something about the port not able to connect. I check back with the last place I worked and there's is using port 1525, so I tried that and it seems to be taking it. One thing that puzzles me though, if I type 'netstat -na |more |grep 1525', I should be able to see the port listening - since its a daemon (sqlexecd) running, but its not showing up?
