In the world of computing there are lies, damn lies and benchmarks. Either company will goose the machine to provide really high numbers which will of course favor their RDBMS over the competition. As to benchmarks, check out www.tpc.org . Its the TPC council on benchmarks. But don't expect to find too many benchmarks for Informix. For some reason, they haven't done any major benchmarks and there is a shift in the TCP-D benchmarks. All but Terradata have removed their benchmarks. The biggest problem, at least as explained to me, is that Informix doesn't seem to have a hardware partner. Also check out the cost per transactions. Informix holds around $140 - $150. Where the competiton is around $50.00 a transaction. I would have to say that Informix would bode well to contact VA Research and do a Linux based benchmark. Naw. It would never happen. Janet Smith doesn't have the budget or the grey matter to think that one up for herself. Maybe someone here would kindly forward this message to her? ... ;-) As to the support, its a toss up. What city do you live in. How well do you trust your sales rep and his SE? Are they hungry for the deal, promising you the world? (Odds are they will be pulled away to another account and ignore you....) Again that depends on the local sales office so your milage may vary. Oracle is bigger and has deeper pockets. Their support and professional services may be better, but they will cost you. -Just another tip from your Uncle Mikey manjr@my-dejanews.com wrote: > Any expert ..pls give me an answer which the good(advantage / disadvantage) > database in term of resource, support, availability and etc, etc between > informix and oracle. > is any benchmark done between this two database. > > -----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- > http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Own
