Hello, I have a question about informix products. When I order informix IDS 7.31, also order SQL and SDK (ESQL/C including in this CD ). After I install SQL, I found it is just SQL runtime. My question is: if I don't need to use isql tools, do I need SQL? what is the exactly meaning of SQL and SQL runtime? Even if I got SQL, I also need SQL runtime? Thanks. Vivian vyao@dehavilland.ca

The form and report scripts are executed by a runtime module which is included in the development package and also the runtime package. Before executing the scripts they are compiled into an intermediate data structure that the runtime understands. The compilers are not included in the runtime so a runtime only machine cannot create new forms. On the development machine you do not need a runtime package it is included in the development package. Art S. Kagel
