Accessing Btrieve files from Informix 4GL

I have a requirement to be able to access (read and write) a set of Btrieve files from within an Informix 4GL application. The Informix applications and database (SE at present), reside on SCO Unix or AIX and the Btrieve files reside on an NT Server (3.5.1 at present). The best idea I have had so far is to set up an NFS partition on the NT server seen by Unix and to compile some Btrieve C routines into the 4GL runner (fglgo for RDS) or add these routines to the program (C Dev version). This way the application could see the files. However, it is very untidy. I would prefer a solution that uses the network to access the data. Someone has suggested Informix CLI. Other than that this is Informix's ODBC drivers, I know nothing of this product. Any ideas would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance. KG PS.
