Informix 7.13 on HP 10.01
Posted in 1996
Hello I'm setting up Informix 7.13 on a HP box running HP-UX 10.01. I have a 'learning environment' set up using 'cooked' disk space. I want to use raw disk access in my production environment. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with raw access using HP's Logical Volume Manager and if so are you calculating the offset using the 5% LVM overhead mentioned in HP's tech doc's. Also according to HP, they have a bad block region set aside toward the end of the Logical Volume, it would apear that I can not use the bad block translation feature because there is no way to keep Informix from writing on that area of the chunk (the end of the Logical Volume). Any thoughts on the above would be very helpfull -- Steve Hansen New Order Computers I don't live at the end of the trail, but I can see it from here
