ODBC setup problem 7.3 uc7

Need help - It has been a long time since I have dealt with these issues !!! A client is trying to connect to the Informix database - 7.3 uc7 with the client=20 sdk 2.81 uc3. It responds with a configuration error - Informix client needs to be properly tuned and installed. Anyone have any suggestions ? An example ini file ? They are trying to go from win 2000/XP (client) to unix Solaris. This was working when the database was on NT, but now they have switched to Solaris.
