Have you more than one instance of the engine running?
If not, try to kill the shared memory using ipcrm -m 0 and ipcrm -m 1

Thanks for help so far given.
I have managed to run oninit -i -s successfully (at least it reurned no
errors) but when I go into onmonitor the mode is still offline - when I try
to startup I get this error in my log.
15:34:17 shmget: [EEXIST][17]: key 52574801: shared memory already exists
15:34:17 mt_shm_init: can't create resident segment
My output from ipcs is
IPC status from <running system> as of Wed Jun 4 15:40:25 2003
Message Queue facility not in system.
T ID KEY MODE OWNER GROUP
Shared Memory:
m 0 0x52574801 --rw-rw---- root informix
m 1 0x52574802 --rw-rw---- root informix
Semaphores:
Can anyone help?
