(NASDAQ: IFMX), the leader in parallel processing database technology, today announced a contract with Seguros Monterrey Aetna, one of the largest insurance companies in Mexico, to restructure the company's large insurance client database and support 2,000 users throughout the country, using Informix database technology. Seguros Monterrey Aetna has decided to implement and build on INSUNIX, the insurance database application developed by EASE of Venezuela, to help solve its decision-support issues. The company chose Informix and INSUNIX to improve the company's overall operations over such a wide user base. "The selection (of Informix) was made based on the superior functionality of INSUNIX and the advanced technology and open systems available with Informix," said Richard Connell, chief information officer for Seguros Monterrey Aetna. "This new technology will support three headquarter offices and 51 branches of the company throughout Mexico. As the firm grows over time, the ease of scalability using Informix's Dynamic Scalable Architecture (DSA) will allow growth without having to rebuild or reinvest in the infrastructure of the company's existing hardware products. System Implemented Using Informix Dynamic Scalable Architecture In order to implement a new client/server structure and develop new applications, Seguros Monterrey Aetna is utilizing INFORMIX-4GL, INFORMIX-SQL, and INFORMIX-NewEra, running on Hewlett-Packard hardware. Seguros Monterrey Aetna seeks to gain a competitive advantage by switching to Informix and INSUNIX. Using INFORMIX-OnLine Dynamic Server will enable Seguros Monterrey Aetna to faster execute quotations, policy applications, premium payments, claims and customer service.
