Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

Two suggestions:
1. Trap the error message in your client's software (WHENEVER SQLERROR
for Informix 4GL)
2. Why don't you let the system assign a primary-key. It appears, that
users enter the primary key in your case. What do you do, if the
user changes the primary key value? Update all the related records?
E.g. we have an integer-column in all our tables and do a SELECT MAX.
Others use a SERIAL-column.
Just my thoughts,
Roland
