(users are included through NIS using > netgroups) We set up NIS (actually NIS+) on Sun Solaris 2.5 several months ago. Informix is calling the standard Unix get user and get password subroutines. It does not care how the underlining OS authenticate user accounts and passwords. It cannot be Informix problem. We started by copying existing user accounts to NIS and then got into trouble, because local server using different UIDs from what the NIS master is using. After trying to make them in-sync for a while, we gave up and drop all the end users from local /etc/passwd. Only developers are in local /etc/passwd. We are not using HP but you can check with the person who installed NIS: what is the full name of an NIS account. Is the domain name part of the full account name? Has the local domain name been set up? Can you telnet to local server as an NIS user? Good luck. Chao
