SAMeDL is an industry standard binding that provides a flexible and portable way to interface Ada code with SQL applications. SAMeDL is growing in popularity because it offers what no other single database programming language offers: Automation - SAMeDL will use the software's specifications to automatically generate efficient Ada interfaces to RDBMSs. Conceptual Clarity - SAMeDL's standard modular interface enables a programmer to easily separate Ada and SQL semantics. Portability - SAMeDL isolates RDBMS differences and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) RDBMS dependencies so that they can be handled by the SAMeDL compiler in a way that is transparent to the user. It also minimizes the impact of RDBMS-dependent features on applications without restricting interoperability. Integration - SAMeDL provides tighter integration with Ada applications by promoting facilities for the use of strong and abstract typing, record oriented interfaces, safe handling of SQL null values, and error recovery.
