Ver 5.02 is a VERY OLD version of Informix and probably suffers from a
known bug, discovered first in 5.06 and 7.12, that resulted in ontape
missing pages during an on-line archive (ie not copying all pages).
This bug probably affects ALL 5.xx versions prior to 5.08 and 7.xx
versions prior to 7.14. Hate to add the your worries but you may have
more issues than just those bad logs.
Having said that... You can restore and NOT restore the logs. Yes I
know very bad to lose 12 hours of data, but it may be better than
nothing. After the restore tell ontape there are no logs to restore
and bring the instance online. Run tbstat -d and check the status
flags for all dbspaces and chunks. If everything is online great
otherwise Informix Tech Support can login and mark your chunks/dbspaces
back online.
