Definitive answer: NO! You cannot defragment the system tables and
it WILL NOT affect performance. This is because all system table
information is cached in the Data Dictionary Cache. However, if you
have more than about 300 ACTIVE tables in all databases (run onstat -g
dic to see the current state of the Data Dictionary) you may need to
increase the size of the data dictionary cache. I posted instructions
for doing this to someone yesterday and also back in March. Check the
