Re: I-Connect Questions

Nils I downloaded the openlink server versions for both HP and SCO, also tried it on a DG at a clients request. The client had lots of experience with oenlink (used it for 2 years), but could not get it to work properly (performance and handling the datatypes) for a Delphi/Informix 7 environment. With 75 users, it was a dog. We persuaded them to try I-Connect which they did not like due to the security implications...but we configured all the machines in a day and it ran perfectly. And fast. Thats just my experience. We couldn't get it to work properly on HP/SCO in our offices either, not that we had a great deal of documnetation since it was a downloaded product. At least we got some support from Openlink themselves, not that it made the situation any different. In defence of the product, I do like the way you can limit access on a per-product-basis, and would have liked to have got it working and properly tested to see if we could have made use of it. I cannot say that I was impressed by the performance in comparison to I-Connect, but as far as ODBC drivers are concerned, it is definately quick. Thats my 2 pence worth.
