Re: Command line options ISQL

Sit next to your terminal with a cup of tea, paper and pen. Every time you select from a menu - write down "-" followed by the capitalised (sp?) letter so for instance - to go to the forms/run menu option : -f -r you can merge these together. Everytime you need to type something in (ie. not from the menu) like a table name or a form name - write that down in quotes. so to run a form: isql dbname -fr "formname" To generate a form, and then run it, something like: isql dbname -fg "tabname" -tr "tabname" (Form/Generate/Table Name/Table selection complete/Run/Table Name) There is another useful option: isql dbname - which reads from the standard input - its useful in shell scripts: echo 'unload to tabs select tabname from systables' | isql dbname - Hope that helps -- Mike Aubury
