For our Sparc2 with Solaris 2.3 we got Informix 5.02. Sun unbundled its C compiler and we decide not to buy it, hoping to use gcc. We learned we could not compile any of our code, because Informix had hard coded the path /opt/SUNWspro/SC2.01/cg92 in its software. I heard informally that there was a patch for this problem. But when I talked to Informix today, I discovered that there is no patch. Acoording to the woman, any c compiler that supports the -xcg92 option will work. What is the -xcg92 option? It looks like gcc will not support it. Informix sent me a message from Arturo Vega of Informix on this. I wonder if I have to talk to Informix sales again. Any thoghts friends?
