Solaris 2.4 and Online 7.11

I am having problems with 7.11 Online running Solaris 2.4 and its refusal to create temp tables (Error 229). When the running a large query with multiple sorts and order bys the optimiser tries to use temp tables. It is these temp tables that are not created. The setting of DBSPACETEMP makes no difference and all the dbspaces have lots of spare space (> 500MB)
