TC8 does not yet exist for 7.3x, however, it does for 7.2x (IDS/IDS Workgroup)which specifically has the problem of hanging during initialization. TC7 for 7.3x does correct the problem of the message service failing to start. The engine will operate normally, but the security log in event viewer will not be updated. However, the online.log will record messages. NT Service Pack 4 changed some security permissions. For IDS 7.2x, these changes cause the server to hang in initialization mode because the Informix Message Service cannot start. In IDS 7.3x how the server starts was changed, so if the Message Service does not start, the engine can still come online. Customers ask for Y2K Issues and existing Customers already installed SP4 on older Versions... Some don't understand that they have to buy a new Version and there are no Patches.
