We've found NewEra to be a suitable solution especially if you plan on keeping both the character based and GUI front ends. In our case we have a common set of per and trigger files and a code generator that enables us to generate either character based 4gl or NewEra programs without having to support two different versions. Are you using Fourgen Accounting? If so you might look into an Accounting package from Concepts Dynamics in Chicago, IL (708) 397-4400.
