Informix CGI Question
Posted in 1997
Problem description: I have just attended a Novell Web Authoring and Publishing course. At this course I was taught that CGI scripts existing on another server could be called by using the following HTML tag: <FORM METHOD="POST" ACTION="HTTP://server/directory/script"> </FORM> I wanted to use this statement in my web page ("index.htm") so I could query data and return a dynamic page. Index.htm is residing on my Netware Server and I want to access our HP Server that contains our Informix database. So I altered the tag to contain our HP Server's TCP/IP address, the directory, and the script name. It does not seem to function at all. They are both connected to the same TCP/IP Network. Questions: Is this actually possible to do with the hardware that I have? What additional steps am I missing to make this function? Do I need an annonymous login on my HP Server? If so, what are the security implications of an anonymous login (this is our Intranet)?
