Datetime/Interval - Help Requested!

Not having worked with the DATETIME/INTERVAL variables much, as I have always found them hard to understand, I am now forced into using them in order to speed up calculations of time and spans of time. The problem I have is getting the variables into something useful such as an intiger or char varable. Additionally, I'm sure there are a load of functions that some folks have written to deal with DATETIME/INTERVAL issues. If anyone has some general hint's or some source they'd be willing to pass along, please e-mail it to me. I heard there was an FTP site full of code some place. Perhaps some kind soul could point me in the right direction. Thanks. P.S. I was thinking. How would a central shared library for 4gl sound? Does Informix support this with SE?
