Need Help with dbexport, dbimport & dbaccess

I'm migrating an entire old informix database (don't have the version)
to Informix IDS 7.3 on a different SCO Unix box. It's basically a
software upgrade but all installed on a new box.
I need to move the entire database, several tables, from the old
informix to the new version on a new box. I'm told that I need to use
dbexport and dbimport but I'm overwhelmed with how much documentation
there is. Is there a simple way to move the database from one version to
another, on different boxes?
Desperately need help and all ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Hi!
Use dbexport and dbimport. They will guarantee compatibility.
If you have a tape drive output data to tape and the sql (schema) to disk.
This will allow you to edit the schema, if required.
Copy the schema to the new system with ftp, diskette or what have you....
Use dbimport to create and load the database.
You should be able to find docs at www.informix.com

The docs for dbexport/dbimport are in the Migration Guide (I know you thought
that manual was for Oracle users). It is really rather simple. You either
dbexport to tape, preferrably have dbexport write the schema file to disk
with the -f option so you can edit it before running dbimport if you need to,
and port the tape over to the new machine and ftp/rcp the schema file or
dbexport to disk (if you tables are all under 2GB) and ftp/rcp the resulting
directory structure to the new machine. On the new machine with the engine
online just run dbimport with the apropriate options and poof.
