We are basically a shared :memory shop so this is new to me. Any help would certainly be :appreciated. Connection to NT for what purpose? To run ODBC or ESQL/C based applications, Delphi, Powerbuilder, MS Access, NewEra? These are key questions. Some require just I-Connect, others Informix CLI (which is ODBC) or some better ODBC driver. If ODBC is your requirement you can forget everything about sqlhosts, /etc/hosts, /etc/services and so on. Continue with just your existing shared memory access and install the OpenLink server based (not Lite) drivers. That's simple to install and gives you lots of functionality you will need, particularly when it comes to security. If you want to run EQSL/C applications (including NewEra) you need I-Connect from Informix. There is a manual that explains most of the installation. For Delphi and Powerbuilder I-Connect is also probably the fastest solution although you do get a wide open security hole. Any user can easily download an ODBC driver off Internet, install it, run MS Access and gain free access to update anything in your database that can be updated by whatever application they otherwise run on the Windows machine. Sometimes that's not so good. Nils.Myklebust@idg.no NM Data AS, P.O.Box 9090 Gronland, N-0133 Oslo, Norway My opinions are those of my company The Informix FAQ is at http://www.iiug.org
