Running frontend applications on clients that do not have the frontend

Netters, I am in an environment with 75 sparc2 clients with three 630MP sun database servers. Some of the clients will only run developed ESQL (Fortran, Ada, C, or 4GL) applications on their clients. WWHHYYY do we have to buy run time copies of the frontend applications for those clients. It does not make sense to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! An executable should be able to run on a client even without the runtime frontend application, unless the application has dynamically linked informix libraries. ================================================= Calvin E.
