What loss of work??
Surely you are backing up your logical logs to tape so you can use this,
in the event of problems, to bring you data fully up to date. I have
found it only takes about an hour to roll in a full days logs on my DB
compared to 15 hours to restore the DB (I know on bar with parallel
threads would be quicker, but would probably take the saved time to
set up in the first place).
