Backup and Restore Question

Is there a good plan with Informix (we use BaaN as our app) for backing up and restoring individual tables/dbspaces? I've mentioned this to a couple of people. When we set up our new server, we're going to create a larger number of individual dbspaces so that we can restore them individually if a device fails and to spread out I/O. Actually, management wants a way to restore individual tables in case some luser decides to break something. The only comments I've heard are, "informix can do individual dbspace restores" and "if you restore one dbspace, everything has to be able to relate to a common point in time or your database integrity is shot." Maybe the individual table method isn't practical, but restoring the entire database to fix one table seems unpractical as well.
