This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Jerry Rammelaere reported a user getting an ODBC error 'Incorrect password or user imelda1 is not known on the database server'. Replies suggested checking the setnet32 host information setting to ask for the password at runtime, verifying the user exists in /etc/passwd with the right password, and for Informix SE checking that sqlexecd is running. No confirmed fix.

Hi,
I have a user who says he receives the following error when logging on:
Warning
[INTERSOLV][ODBC Informix driver]Driver's
SQLSetConnectAttr
failed.[INTERSOLV][ODBCInformix driver]Optionel
feature not
implemented.[INTERSOLV][ODBC Informix
driver][Informix]Incorrect
password or user imelda1 is not known on the
database server.
Does this indicate something's wrong at user definition level ?
Any ideas or suggestions are welcome ?
Regards,
Jerry

I'm not sure, but you might want to check the setnet32 settings. On the
host information tab, make sure the drop down box says ask password at
runtime. If you don't have setnet32 installed, I haven't a clue.

Have you verified that user imelda1 is in /etc/passwd and that the password
that you are passing is correct.

Hi Jerry,
if you are using Informix SE check if the sqlexecd daemon is started.
