Linking raw disk space to a /dev file in SCO

Hi, I know this is truly a SCO question, but I thought someone might have had some similar experience... I'm trying to link my raw space to a character-special device file. So far I'm looking at /dev/rdsk and that's about as far as I get. Which file should I be linking to? Another instance of Informix running on another SCO server here shows /dev/rootdbspace linked to /dev/rturbo which is linked to nothing else (???) Any clues? You want to link to the device special file that represents the disk partition(s) that you want to use for Informix chunk space. To get RAW access you have to link to the character version of the file (usually in /dev/rdsk and showing a 'c' in the first column of an ls -l listing). What those device files are I cannot say. FYI it is best to place the links themselves in a subdirectory of the Informix home directory or of the $INFORMIXDIR directory, using symbolic or 'soft' links, rather than clutter up /dev with the chunk path links. So if the Informix home dir is /home/informix I make a directory /home/informix/disks and place the links there, for example: ln -s /dev/rdsk/c0t8d0s3 /home/informix/disks/root_chunk This makes it easier to manage your chunks and makes you a bit safer from an over zealous sysadmin deleting your links from /dev.
