And you have to rememeber: you may find that the process is not in critical section NOW (tbstat -s), but it CAN BE in a few second later, when trying to kill it. Since time we have been using Informix-Star (application server on one machine and database server on other one), I sometimes use tbmode -z and kill -1 (one), and process (sqlturbo) dies without problems. (I never try kill -9 on sqlexec on application server - I do not know what it can do.) It happened to me to make OnLine to abort with kill -9 on sqlturbo. OnLine then went up without problems - but we were said it was good luck. Michal Hajek Art S.
