Of course! That's the whole point of using transactions; so you can
recover back to the point of the failure.

They use both. Use OnTape -c if the logs will fill before a scheduled
backup. Use OnTape -a at scheduled backup times.

Backup your logs as part of a well thought out disaster recover plan.
People never like to think of restoring, but hardware DOES fail
sometimes. :-)
