In ER versions 7.30 and 7.24 a holding state indicates that more than 20,000 transactions have been queued to a single site. It was intended to prevent excess memory usage, but the implmentation was flawed, so if a site every gets into a hold state it probably won't get out. Suspending/resuming the site or disconnect/connect should clear the condition. Setting the environment variable to CDROVER_RUN to value allows setting the limit higher to prevent ever getting stuck. The whole mechanism was replaced by a better method in 7.31/9.2, but the changes are too large to be released as a bug fix to 7.3/7.24. -- Stephen Hemminger Enterprise Replication R&D Informix Software,Inc. <sch@informix.com>
