Re: help: Shared memory init error

Hello,
I'm not sure this is your case, but something from my experience.
1. after successful restore Online remains in Quiscent mode. Trying
oninitcommand causes just the message "Fatal error in shared memory.." you've
got. It's normal.
Don't try to instantinate running Online ones more.
2. Sometimes Online hangs in "Fast Recovery (CKPT needed)" state after
restore.
I don't know why it happens, maybe I'm too stupid to do correct
backup/restore
with this sophisticated product, but it's a fact.
In this case:
- clean rootdbs, to remove system pages. If your primary chunk is a
file,
just truncate it. If you use raw space, try something like
$ yes | dd of=<raw device> bs=xxx count=yyy seek=zzz
- make FULL COLD restore.
I use only ontape for backups, since onarchive has too many "features".
