continuous logging question

Gotta question for you guys:
if I'm running continuous logging (ontape -c) and I bounce the engine,
is the continuous logging tape still good for restore purposes up to the
point at which I bounced the engine even though the ontape process was
terminated improperly? In other words, when you stop the continuous
logging process properly, it does one last backup to tape before
exiting. But since I'm bouncing the engine, it doesn't get to do this
exit procedure so I'm wondering if the tape is still good. Anybody got
any ideas?

Yes. Continuous logging is not really continuous. It alwways writes a
complete logfile to the tape ONLY when each log has filled. BTW
'improperly' is the ONLY way to terminate ontape -c.

I always had my stop script do an onmode -l to switch the logical logs
after it sent the ontape process a SIGINT.
Hope this helps,
