Multiple OnLine Instances (v5/v7) On Remote Servers

Dear All
We are in the process of migrating our Informix-OnLine system 5.01.UD4
on SVR4(Sparc) to 7.23.UC6 on OpenServer 5.0.4(Intel). We currently
have two separate instances of v5 running on the SVR4 box (TEST and
LIVE), controlled, naturally, by setting $TBCONFIG. My question, I
believe, is relatively simple. How do we connect from the new box
running v7 to EACH of the old instances. I have set up both physical
boxes in $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts on v7 and v5. We are running I-STAR
on v5 (not applicable on v7, so I believe), but when I connect via
DBACCESS/ISQL using "dbaccess db_name@v5_TEST_instance_name, although
it successfully connects, it actually is pointing to
db_name@v5_LIVE_instance_name. (Note - these are not the true names!
No responses re "name too long" please !!). I suspect my problem is
one with differing versions and knowing how to tell the v7 frontend
the v5 equivalent to $TBCONFIG. Could somebody out there shed some
light? Could somebody also confirm to me whether I-STAR (v5) services
calls at an instance level or physical server (as opposed to DBSERVER)
level ?
