IMHO Informix has better product, documentation and support quality. In essence it is a friendlier company to deal with as a customer. Many parts of the technical archictecture and design is superior, especially the multiple different VP process design gives it an edge. However, Informix has two related shortcomings: - It does not have multiversioning. - The logical log design is theoretically unsafe and inferior to Oracles rollback segment design. I went to an admin-course on Informix almost three years ago and was then told that multiversioning was in the pipe-line. I have not seen it yet. For most purposes I would still choose Informix, though it is not entirely technically superior. /Johan -- ________________________________________________________________________ | >>> The opinions herein are mine and not neccessarily my employers <<< | | Johan Andersson, Msc CSE jna@carmenta.se | ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
