Compensatory Log Records (CLR) are written back at the time of a rollback. As per the Informix manual, the CLR is a 24 byte record and is generated for each record that is rolled back. The CLR points back to the log record that is being undone. (Though the manual states that sometimes the compensating operation generates a new log record - I donot under what conditions this occurs). But overall, I think that log space required for rollback should be less than the log space used by the original transaction.
