shared memory not initialized for INFORMIXSERVER

Hi Informix DBAs, " shared memory not initialized for INFORMIXSERVER xxx" when i issue any onstat , ontape / oncheck commands. This is a strange message I get many times , EVEN WHEN my server is running fine. My queries from dbaccess run fine. I checked up the logical logs, and they are not full. After I reach this state I can't do any monitoring , it wont even let me do onmode -ky Can anyone explain this behaviour? Thanks Gururaj
