Testing datablades on a private server
Posted in 1999
Guys,
I'm trying to test a datablade I have just written. (IUS 9.14.UC4 Solaris
2.6)
I have created a seperate private instance and, using dbaccess, I have
created a test database.
One thing I noticed was that I cannot get any information using the 'info'
option in dbaccess because '111: ISAM error :no record found. systables is
not in the database'
Next I tried to register my blade with my test db and received the following
eye opener -
'blademgr: ERROR: Prep failed'
when I tried 'list testdb' in blade manager.
None the less I tried to register it and received
'blademgr: ERROR: Prep failed.'
'blademgr: ERROR: Couldn't 'prep' database.'
On trawling the iiug database I found the comments below:
Please could you let me know if you have any suggestions on how to get
around this problem or any fixes that are available in the last 9 months. Do
you have any suggestions on testing datablades?
Cheers
Mark Jenkins

The problem is well known to me. It is based on the fact, that e.g. the
blademanager only connects as username 'informix' (I think hard coded), but
the tables belong to you. That means, that informix is no longer sysadmin,
its
your user account.
If I remember correctly, I was able to use dbaccess, but after some days I
give up, because I was not able to run the blades.
The is one possibility to get the blades registered. Just search for the
script, containing all sql commands. Before you have to install two or
three blade registration tables. You can look them up in a standard server.
