Would anyone care to share what has or has not worked in your shop? Does Informix scale better on a large box like a Sun Enterprise6000 server, or will it scale just as well spread across multiple Intel boxes running on Unix? Thanks for your assistance

We run IDS 7.xx on 32 CPU DG/M88k, 24 CPU DG PentiumII, and 20 CPU Sun E6000. It scales very well on all of these platforms as large SMP systems (actually the DGs are Numa architecture since PII only coordinates up to 4 CPUs on a card but they can be treated as SMP for most intents and purposes). The 20 UltraSPARCS are a bit faster than the 24 PIIs. I am about to configure our first pair of 500MHZ PIII DGs so we shall see. I cannot speak to how XPO on a cluster of PCs behaves, perhaps Mr. Shaeffer will comment. Art S. Kagel
