RE: Configuring IDS 7.3 uc2 on SCO 5.0.4, (RAW Devices ?)

In divvy you create chunks of the size you require and give them names you
recognise. (say call one rootdbs). Do not create filesystems on these
devices. You will have a file in /dev called rrootdbs (using memory here)
of type c (the one you want) and another called rootdbs of type b. do a ls
-l on these files. The only place I know of where to determine the size of
a raw device is in divvy.
Then link your Informix name to this device and change permissions,
ownership.
I do not see and SHM parameters in your tune file, particularly SHMMAX.
Check the release notes on what parameters are required.
[ENOMEM][12]: says not enough memory!!
Check the release notes for SHMBASE, the failed initialisation says to put
it at 0x80400000, not 0x80000000.

Subject: Configuring IDS 7.3 uc2 on SCO 5.0.4, (RAW Devices ?)
Please can somebody help me with the installation of IDS 7.30 uc2 on
Openserver 5.0.4.
I have a P2-400, 256mb memory, 9gb hd with a 4 gig ntfs, 1.6gb sco, 2gb and
1gb available.
I'm not sure if I've set up the raw devives properly. Fdisk 2gb and 1gb
partition. divvy -m /dec/rhd01 & 02. Set up areas (mirror 25000 blocks,
rootdbs 25000 blocks, chnk1-4. 8032 blocks have been reserved for the
system) with NON FS option. This creates r"division name" in /dev. I have
linked to this file, informix 660 etc. as it seems that it is the character
kind and not the block (crw not brw). Where can I find info on raw devices
(whch book in sco help)?
Kernel params have been changed and relinked.
I Keep getting this message.
oninit: Fatal error in shared memory creation
What is wrong ?
Anybody have any ideas .....
