Ontape output

We're using ontape/tbtape -c from the command line to run continuous logging
to /dev/rmt1. We change tapes once a day, and note the logical log numbers
that are on the tape. Being extremely lazy, we would like to output the
logical log numbers to a file or mail in order not to have to write them
down manually. Sounds simple but can't work out how.
TIA

Hi,
Just some ideas what you could do:
1) tee stdout/stderr of ontape -c to a file
2) When a logical log is getting full, you may call an ALARMPROGRAM (specified
in the config file), usually $INFORMIXDIR/etc/log_full.sh. You may modify this
script to give the output you want
3) scan your logfile (MSGPATH) using awk or similar.
