OnLine 7.1 stuck in recovery
Posted in 1995
} It would seem that the recovery process is blocked due to full logical
} logs but I can't seem to back them up to either tape or /dev/null. The
} "ontape -a" command starts to work then completes with "This tape
} contains no log data". The process that filled the logs was accidentally
} killed. The only way the affect the status of the engine is to kill the
} master daemon. By the way, I'm running on SCO ODT 3.0. Is there another
} way to flush the logs? I included some output.
}
} Thanks for any hints.

"You in a heap o' trouble, boy..."
Your best option here is to either restore from archive or to call Informix
and have their tech services people dial in to your system and fix it.
(See the lengthy and educational discussion: "tbzero, myth or menace?")
Depending on what you were doing when things got hosed, they may or may not
be able to help you. The fast recovery process will take forever when the
logs fill up in this way.
FWIW now, be *really* careful about killing off those informix processes.
