We are currently mapping a database server upgrade to Informix OnLine Server Version 7.3 from Informix OnLine Server Version 5.08.UC1. The following is what I think we should do: 1. Upgrade to Informix 5.10 2. Upgrade to Informix 7.23 3 .Upgrade to Informix 7.3 Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on this migration path? We intend to be on Informix 5.10 by Feb 1999. We then intend to upgrade to 7.23 and to 7.3 on the same weekend in May. Can we just go directly to 7.3 instead? Thanks

Since every index has to be rebuilt and the conversion does not use parallel index creations it is best to drop all the indexes that you can before the upgrade (and after archiving the 5.08 instance) then upgrade and use parallel index building to build as many indexes in parallel using PSORT for each as possible. Remember to allow for the additional disk space needed for the 7.30 indexes which will be slightly larger than their 5.08 equivalants. Art S. Kagel
